The following SunOS4 machines (all in the deas domain) may be used to run
e-l-254
hershey dove bespin calliope flash speed sparkle
Of these, hershey and dove are significantly faster...
The following machines in the Aiken fishbowl offer color monitors, which
are useful for running e-l-254:
sparkle dove pappus hershey
flash offers only a monochrome monitor: highlighting isn't going to be as
elegant.
Since we only have a few publicly accessible systems with color monitors,
please consider using systems in other locations with color monitors and
running X (in your dorm or at the Science Center).

P.S. System management hasn't told me of any new accounts yet.
We have more copies of Friday's handouts in the mailbox outside of
Aiken 111.
(and now quoting directly from the remainder of Glenn's message):
------------------------
The version of E-L to use for CS254 is started by running e-l-cs254 on one
of the SunOS 4 machines. So if you use `pappus' as a console, you need to
issues commands like
xhost +
rlogin dove
setenv DISPLAY pappus:0.0
to get ready to start e-l-cs254 so that its displays appear on `pappus'.
Substitute any other SunOS 4 machine for `dove'. (Hint: dove and
hershey are faster than the other workstations.)
For best results, you want to be sitting at a color console or terminal
when using E-L. If you have access elsewhere to such a terminal and can
log in remotely to one of the (SunOS 4) machines mentioned above, please do
that instead of tying up one of the four color monitors available in the
Aiken terminal tank. E-L _can_ be used from a monochrome display,
including X terminals in the terminal room.
