First you will see the two BECs (blue), and the illumination by the coupling beam (orange), from the right. Then a light pulse (yellow orange) enters from the left. It is slowed and compressed inside the first BEC. Next, the coupling beam is switched off, and the light pulse is converted into an atomic "copy" (red) of the light pulse. This copy flies across to the second BEC. The coupling beam is then switched back on, and the light pulse is regenerated in the second BEC, propagates out, and continues on its way.
